Woman allegedly left puppies in 40 degree hot truck for over an hour

The Collier County Sheriff's Office has arrested a woman accused of leaving a puppy in a 100-degree truck for over an hour. Ginobeba Obregon, 34, is charged with animal cruelty after she was arrested by officers on Tuesday. Detectives said the puppy, a six-month-old male schnauzer named Bigotes, was not injured and appeared to be in good health after the incident. When officers arrived at the Davis Village shopping center around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, they found Bigotes panting heavily on the center armrest. The 2021 Chevy Silverado was off and the windows were slightly open.Officers helped firefighters get the puppy out of the truck, which was reportedly 110 degrees.Obregon told officers she left the puppy in the truck for 30 minutes while she shopped at a store in the plaza.A witness told officers she saw the dog in the truck at 12:54 p.m. The witness reportedly took a photo and then tried to find the owner. When she returned to the truck, it was 1:56 p.m. and the puppy was still inside.The CCSO's investigation found the puppy was left in the truck for at least an hour and 15 minutes.”It is never OK to leave a pet in a hot vehicle,” Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said. “Leaving pets in a hot vehicle for even a few minutes can be fatal. We thank the concerned citizen who saw the puppy in distress in the hot truck and reported it to law enforcement.” Obregon was reportedly found and arrested at her home on Tuesday. Ginobeba Obregon, 34, faces animal cruelty charges after she was arrested by officials on Tuesday.

Investigators said the puppy, a six-month-old male schnauzer named Bigotes, was not injured and appeared to be in good health after the incident.

Officers arrived at the Davis Village shopping center around 4:30 p.m. Sunday and found Bigotes breathing heavily on the center armrest. The 2021 Chevy Silverado was turned off and the windows were slightly open.

Officials helped firefighters remove the puppy from the truck, which reportedly had temperatures of 40 degrees.

Obregon told officers she left the puppy in the truck for 30 minutes while she shopped at a store in the square.

A witness reported to officers that she saw the dog in the truck at 12:54 p.m. The witness reportedly took a photo and went to look for the owner. When she returned to the truck, it was 1:56 p.m. and the puppy was still in the truck.

The CCSO investigation revealed that the puppy was left in the truck for at least an hour and 15 minutes.

Obregon was reportedly found in her home on Tuesday and arrested. Obregon faces charges of animal cruelty.
