MSP: Two Tecumseh residents arrested after traffic stop in Monroe County

Monroe County, Michigan – Police arrested two Tecumseh residents Monday night following an initial traffic stop in Monroe County. The Michigan State Police Monroe Post reports the traffic stop occurred just before 8 p.m. on South Custer Road, east of Ida-Maybee Road, for a traffic violation.

According to MSP, the driver, a 42-year-old man from Tecumseh, was suspected of driving while intoxicated upon initial contact. While attempting to arrest the driver, the passenger, a 35-year-old woman from Tecumseh, attempted to prevent the arrest of the male driver.

While the police officer took care of the passenger and took her into custody for obstructing the roadway, the male driver fled the scene of the accident on foot, according to police, and ignored the police officer's verbal instructions.

The driver was eventually arrested and taken to the Monroe County Jail. Charges are pending against the driver.
