“Slovan Bratislava will bet everything on Celtic in the Champions League opener”

Celtic can expect Slovan Bratislava to “give it their all” on Wednesday, says Slovak football journalist Lukas Vrablik.

The Scottish champions welcome the guests in Glasgow for their first game in the actual Champions League.

On paper, many believe last season's Slovakian top-flight winners are Celtic's best chance of picking up three points in the revamped league phase of the competition.

However, Vrablik believes that the away team benefits from being the underdog in games like Wednesday's.

Speaking on the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast, he added: “It's been a long road for Slovan Bratislava. I think they will give it their all.”

“Even though they're underdogs, they like being in that position. They really like playing against the odds and I think that will be the case in all of their games.”

“In terms of playing style, they should really play their typical game, which is usually based on counterattacks.

“I don't think they're going to park the bus, they're not like that, but I think they're going to be a little defensive.”
