State Police investigate fatal car crash in Felton – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal car crash that occurred early yesterday morning in Felton.

On September 17, 2024, at approximately 2:02 a.m., a Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Spectrum Farms Road toward Edwardsville Road. For reasons still under investigation, the F-150 failed to negotiate a curve, left the north side of the road, and overturned. An unbelted passenger was ejected from the truck.

The passenger, a 14-year-old boy from Felton, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released until his family has been notified.

One passenger, a 19-year-old Felton woman, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another passenger, an unidentified man, left the scene before police arrived. The driver of the F-150 has not yet been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

The road was closed for about four hours while the accident scene was being investigated and cleared.

The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Officers are asking anyone who witnessed this accident or has additional information to contact Master Corporal J. Lane by phone at (302) 698-8457.
