Celtic vs Slovan Bratislava LIVE: Champions League results, lineups, commentary and stats

Manager Brendan Rodgers says he is in the “best place I've ever been” during his time at Celtic and is aiming for a first Champions League win at home against Slovan Bratislava.

Rodgers has begun the second season of his second tenure with six consecutive wins.

And Celtic are clear favourites to continue this streak against a team making their debut at this level.

“It feels like I have never been so well prepared for a Champions League season as Celtic manager,” said Rodgers.

“After spending a year here, seeing all the players and improving in many areas that I want to, 'readiness' is certainly a great word.

“I think we feel like we've arrived at the best place I've ever been since I've been here in this first game.

“We are playing at home and want to start with a really good performance and get three points.”

Celtic picked up a win and a draw to finish bottom of their group last season, but Rodgers believes they “performed well” in every game, apart from a heavy defeat away to Atletico Madrid.

Slovan Bratislava survived all four qualifying rounds, reached the new league phase of the tournament and is the first club from Slovakia to be represented there in 14 seasons.

Led by Vladimir Weiss, who led Artmedia Bratislava to a 5-0 victory in Gordon Strachan's first game as Celtic manager in 2005, the visitors have also won five of their six league games this season.

“Bratislava needed eight games to reach this stage, so you can never underestimate how much fighting spirit they must have to reach this level.

“For some it may not be fashionable, there may be clubs with a greater history, but we know that this is a team that we really have to respect.”

“But we also know that we are at home. We are in a really good mood and just want to bring that energy to the stands. I have the feeling that we can have a really good evening.”
