Hopkinsville teen arrested for social media threat

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (KFVS) – A juvenile has been arrested in Hopkinsville, Kentucky for his alleged involvement in recent social media threats.

According to Hopkinsville Police, on Wednesday, September 18, members of the Hopkinsville Police Department Investigative Division, in cooperation with the Christian County School System and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, arrested a juvenile for his alleged involvement in recent threats circulating across multiple social media platforms.

On Monday, September 16, police were informed of a threat by an unknown person via social media platforms to shoot several students.

After extensive investigations, investigators were able to determine that the device used to create and distribute threatening messages was in the teenager's care and that he also had control over it.

During the police investigation, it was discovered that the teenager had attempted to destroy evidence of his involvement.

The youth is charged with aiding and abetting terroristic threats in the second degree and tampering with evidence. He was transferred to the custody of the juvenile justice authority.
