Marjorie Taylor Greene skewers Democratic congressman who once proposed cutting Secret Service protection

Marjorie Taylor Greene on Wednesday blasted a Democratic lawmaker for once requesting to strip Secret Service protections for certain convicted felons — a bill introduced months before Donald Trump's two assassination attempts. Greene even went so far as to rebuke Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) for authoring the bill, which was specifically aimed at denying federal protections to felons sentenced to prison. That bill was introduced by Thompson as Trump was about to be found guilty of a crime in his New York hush money trial. The timing was no coincidence, as Thompson said he hoped the bill would prevent Trump from receiving special treatment during a hypothetical prison sentence — and not put him in jeopardy on the campaign trail or elsewhere. Greene, 50, was furious with Thompson's bill, saying, “You are also taking actions that could lead to the assassination of President Trump.” “Thompson has refused to withdraw his bill,” she said Wednesday. “…This bill must be withdrawn, or Rep. Thompson should be censured on the floor of the House.”
