Utah is getting colder this week as a storm moves in on Monday

After a warm weekend, Utah is expected to experience fall temperatures on Tuesday and remain throughout the week.

The National Weather Service predicted an autumn storm would hit Utah Monday afternoon and evening, with gusts of up to 50 mph in some areas.

A wind warning for southwest Utah – especially western Millard and Juab counties – was in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Monday, the weather service reported.

According to the weather service, the storm front is expected to bring rain to parts of Utah, with snow possible above 9,000 feet.

Highs of just 64 degrees are expected on Tuesday — about 15 to 20 degrees cooler than weekend highs. Highs in the 70s are expected for the rest of the week, which is about 10 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year, the weather service said.

The cold front crossing Utah on Monday evening “is bringing significantly cooler air to the region for Tuesday,” the National Weather Service website says. “The main storm system will move through the region on Tuesday, and cool and unsettled weather will remain for the rest of the week.”
