SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – A Sioux City man was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in a shooting in early September.

On Wednesday, September 18, 18-year-old Liem Wabashaw was arrested, according to Sioux City police. Officers said Wabashaw was charged with second-degree burglary.

Wabashaw's arrest stems from an incident that occurred on Monday, September 9, at 12:53 p.m., according to court documents.

Police were called to a shooting at 1908 Helmer Street in Sioux City. Officers arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim, later identified as Wabashaw, was taken to MercyOne Medical Center for treatment.

According to the documents, Wabashaw entered the house to retrieve some of his belongings when he noticed his possessions were damaged. At one point, Wabashaw entered the kitchen and pulled out the refrigerator and stove to cut the electrical cord, court documents say.

He is said to have entered the room of another family member who feared for his life and shot him in the neck.

Wabashaw was booked into the Woodbury County Jail on $2,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, September 27, at 9 a.m.
