The Maine man accused of killing two people, including a teenager, in the town of Poland has been found guilty. The jury deliberated for about 90 minutes before finding Aaron Aldrich of Auburn guilty of two counts of murder. Authorities said 16-year-old Mohamed Aden of Lewiston and 21-year-old Shoeb Mohamed Adan of Springfield, Massachusetts, were found dead in a home on Tripp Lake Road in February 2023. Court documents say Aden's body was found in the living room with gunshot wounds to his back, chest and right arm. Investigators also said they found what appeared to be 9mm shell casings near Adan's body, which was in another room. According to court documents, police received a tip from a Lewiston woman who said she had information. When police questioned the woman, she told them Aldrich left her home around 10 p.m. the night before the victims were found dead and returned around midnight. The woman told police Aldrich was acting paranoid and looked out the window, and she noticed what looked like blood on his shoe and a cut on his wrist. The woman told police she left home around 2 a.m. and when she returned, Aldrich was gone. Court documents state the woman said Aldrich texted her around 3 a.m. with a picture of himself and the words “I did something.” According to court documents, the woman told police Aldrich usually keeps a 9mm handgun in her home, but she said it is no longer there. Aldrich is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
