Teenager injured in incident near school in Essex

Police are investigating an apparent attack on a juvenile near a school in Essex. Baltimore County police provided few details to 11 News, saying a juvenile was treated for a stab wound Wednesday afternoon. The injuries were not life-threatening, police said. County police told 11 News officers were called to an incident off school property near Kenwood High School just before 2 p.m. No arrests had been reported as of Wednesday afternoon. Baltimore County Public Schools identified the victim as a student and said the student went to school after the attack and was treated by the school nurse before paramedics arrived. Witnesses told 11 News the argument occurred over a Black & Mild cigar. The district told 11 News Kenwood was briefly placed under quarantine, which was lifted at 2:25 p.m. The school sent a letter to parents and guardians saying, “We were made aware that a student was injured in an altercation that occurred off school property. The student returned to the building where he was immediately evaluated by the school nurse. Baltimore County Police were contacted and we activated our lockdown protocol out of an abundance of caution. This is an active police investigation and we will share any additional information we receive from police as needed. Curfew was lifted at 2:25 p.m. and dismissal occurred as planned.” No additional information was immediately available. This story will be updated.
