2 dead in car accident in Salem

Salem police said no arrests or citations have been made and the accident is still under investigation.

SALEM, Oregon – According to the Salem Police Department (SPD), two people died in a head-on collision on Monday.

At approximately 10:09 a.m., Salem Police responded to reports of a crash involving two pickup trucks on Cordon Road Southeast. The crash closed the road for several hours.

The occupants of one of the trucks – 28-year-old Blanca Mariela Franco-Ramos of Mt. Angel and Heriberto Rangel-Rangel, 46, of Silverton – died when emergency responders arrived. Three other adult occupants were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, according to the SPD.

Salem police said no arrests or citations have been made and the accident is still under investigation.

This year alone, Salem police have responded to 18 fatal car accidents, resulting in 19 fatalities.
