Man arrested after attack in elementary school

AND THE BREAKING NEWS COMES FIRST AT 5 AM. A TEACHER ASSISTANT AT SOUTH MEBANE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IS NOW SUSPENDED. THIS COMES AFTER THE MEBANE POLICE DEPARTMENT CHARGED HIM WITH ASSAULT. ALAMANCE BURLINGTON SCHOOL PRINCIPALS CONFIRMED THIS TONIGHT. WILLIAM WHITEHURST IS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR AN INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED AT SCHOOL. THE PRINCIPALS DID NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS, BUT THE CHIEF OF THE MEBANE POLICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THE CHILD INVOLVED WAS NOT INJURED. A teacher's aide was arrested following a reported assault at a Triad elementary school, according to officials with the Mebane Police Department.Officials said they are investigating an assault that occurred at South Mebane Elementary School on Tuesday.
