Suspect accused of murdering Kentucky deputy sheriff shot dead in her home

A woman says she found the man suspected of killing a Kentucky deputy earlier this week dead in her home. “The guy shot at a cop and then the guy ran into my trailer and that's where his life ended,” Rita Campbell said. Russell County Sheriff's Deputy Josh Phipps was killed in a shootout with the suspect in Russell Springs on Monday. Phipps was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The suspect was also shot in Campbell's home. She says the windows were smashed and the trees outside were riddled with bullet holes. “Apparently they caught him when he hit the hallway in the bedroom because that's where most of the blood is,” she said. Phipps was a former officer with the Louisville Metro Police Department. His funeral is pending.
