Yarmouth accused of repeated attempted child rape – NBC Boston

A man has been indicted by a grand jury on charges including the violent rape of a child. The two incidents occurred three years apart in a town on Cape Cod, authorities said Wednesday.

Ryan Evans, 27, is accused of luring a boy behind a Yarmouth bathroom in July of this year after allegedly breaking into a young girl's bedroom in Yarmouth nearly three years earlier, according to the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office.

Evans had already been indicted on the charges in district court. The grand jury's indictment will transfer the cases to Barnstable Superior Court. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney who could comment on the charges.

According to authorities, in the July 9, 2024 incident, Evans lured a five-year-old boy behind a park's restrooms during a children's soccer game and then attempted to sexually assault him shortly before 8 p.m. The child's scream scared the man away and he rode away on an electric bike. However, he was caught a day later after being tracked using his GPS bracelet.

Evans pleaded not guilty when arraigned on the first charge in Barnstable District Court.

He is now accused of assaulting a child, two counts of sexual assault and battery, and seduction of a child. He will appear before the Superior Court in Barnstable on Thursday.

He also faces charges there of unarmed burglary, attempted rape of a child, assault, malicious damage to property, theft and attempted burglary in connection with the July 6, 2021, incident in which Evans was allegedly chased out of a Yarmouth home by a man who found Evans in his daughter's bedroom.

Investigators found that someone attempted to break into another home that same night, where a young boy lived, prosecutors said Wednesday. Evans' fingerprints were found in both homes. That incident forced him to wear the GPS tracker that authorities used to track him down three years later.
