A Putnam County man reportedly kills his wife by murder-suicide

Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said two dead dogs were also found at the scene.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Georgia – A man killed his wife and them in Putnam County on Wednesday, according to a report from Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills.

Sills said 64-year-old Timothy Brown called the sheriff's office around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and said he had just killed his wife, Vicky Brown, and was planning to kill himself.

When officers entered the couple's home in the 800 block of Harmony Road, they found the couple dead in their bed, according to Sills. There were also two dead dogs in the bedroom.

According to the report, the dogs were killed with a semi-automatic pistol and Vicky Brown with a .22 caliber rifle.

Sills said there were no signs of a struggle in the house. A third dog was in the house with them and was unharmed in the shooting.

The couple had no history of domestic violence, but neighbors at previous addresses told Sills that there had been recurring “domestic tensions” during their marriage.

According to the report, the couple had a son and grandchildren.
