Officials are investigating two car crashes near Riverdale schools, the sheriff's office says

PORT BYRON, Illinois (KWQC) – The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating a two-car crash.

A TV6 crew on scene spoke with a deputy who said the accident occurred between a box truck and a Pontiac at the intersection of 256th Street North and 94th Avenue North.

There were two passengers in the Pontiac at the time of the accident, and the driver was flown by helicopter to Iowa City, the deputy said.

The officer said the other passenger in the Pontiac was taken to a nearby hospital and the driver of the van is fine.

According to a Facebook post from the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office, a two-car crash that occurred Thursday morning in the Riverdale Schools area is under investigation.

The Sheriff's Office is currently asking drivers to seek an alternate route along 94th Avenue North.

Officials said further information would be released later.
