Tips and predictions for the Braves at the Reds

forecast

Braves 5, Reds 1

Money line

HAPPEN.

The Braves (-200) will win this game and the series on Thursday afternoon, but I'm betting on the better odds on the run line.

Running Line/Against the Spread

Bet on the Braves -1.5 (-125).

Betting on the Braves to cover the run line on Thursday seems like a smart move with Sale on the mound. He has been excellent lately, not losing a start since June 27.

The Reds, on the other hand, have major problems with left-handed pitchers, having only a .226 batting average as a team and a 16-25 record against left-handed pitchers this season. Additionally, Cincinnati hasn't been particularly good in day games and has a 24-35 record this season. With Atlanta only two games back in the Wild Card race, it will be motivated to get the win.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8 (-105).

With Sale as a pitcher, going under seems like a smart move. He has been outstanding, allowing more than 2 earned runs only three times in 28 starts this year. In fact, he has allowed 1 run or less in half of those games.

The big question is how good Atlanta can be on offense, but with Sale likely to keep the Reds in check, the under strategy seems to be the best solution.
