Metallica extends M72 world tour with dates until 2025 and fans are excited

  • Metallica extends their M72 World Tour
  • The new series of dates will take place in North America in spring and summer 2025.
  • The opening acts are Pantera, Limp Bizkit, Suicidal Tendencies and Ice Nine Kills

Metallica's massive M72 world tour isn't going to end anytime soon.

On September 19, the legendary heavy metal band announced a series of dates on their M72 world tour in North America for the spring and summer of 2025, with Pantera, Limp Bizkit, Suicidal Tendencies and Ice Nine Kills as opening acts – and fans are ready.

“Metallica and Limp Bizkit are touring together next year, this is absolutely not a drill,” wrote one X user (formerly Twitter) after the announcement.

“Limp Bizkit and Metallica is an evil combination that I didn't even know was possible. I HAVE to go,” said another fan on the social media platform.

One fan even shared a heartfelt story emphasizing how important the tour will be to him. “It's going to be really hard to afford this. But after what I've been through in the last four years of chemo, this band has single-handedly kept me alive and continues to do so to this day,” he wrote on X. “There's no way I'm missing this @Metallica @Pantera my two favorite bands of all time!!!”

The new run of dates kicks off with a headlining appearance at the Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas on April 12, followed by shows in cities such as Toronto, Nashville, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston and more before concluding at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver on June 29.

Keeping with the tried and true tradition, any weekend with two shows in the same city is known as “No Repeat Weekend.” Metallica will play a different setlist each night and the opening acts will also rotate, so fans will get to see everything the M72 World Tour has to offer by attending both shows.

One show will be particularly special. On May 7, Metallica will play its first-ever show at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia – also known as the home of the Virginia Tech Hokies, who have played the band's classic “Enter Sandman” when they take the field for more than 20 years.

Tickets will first go on sale to fan club members on September 23 at 10 a.m. local time. Citi cardholders and Verizon Access users will then be able to purchase tickets for select dates during two separate presale windows, both running from September 24 at 10 a.m. local time to September 26 at 10 p.m. local time.

For all other fans, tickets can be purchased from September 27th at 10 a.m. local time.

A portion of all ticket proceeds for the tour will go to local charities through Metallica's “All Within My Hands” foundation.
