Suspect in Lexington driving aggression case appears in court

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The suspect in a traffic violence incident in Lexington appeared in court Thursday morning.

Victim Kasey Dickens says she was driving in Lexington a month ago when she stopped at a red light at the intersection of South Limestone and Virginia Avenue on the UK campus and was attacked by a man.

On Thursday, the two were in the same room at his preliminary hearing, and Kasey told more of her story.

Darrell Blankenship is the man police have charged with assault and terroristic threats. According to investigators, Blankenship approached Dickens' car and began hitting and yelling at her.

Blankenship accused Dickens of nearly hitting him.

On Thursday, we learned that Dickens was being followed by a female friend at the time of the alleged incident. The female friend got out and confronted Blankenship. Blankenship then told the female friend he had something in the car for him, causing the female friend to believe she was being threatened, investigators said.

The judge sent the case to the grand jury and kept Blankenship's bail at $20,000.
