Teenager arrested after argument between student and hall supervisor at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Chaos broke out at Lincoln High School on Wednesday after a fight broke out between a student and a staff member just before lunchtime.

A 17-year-old student is now facing charges and the employee – who district officials say works as a hallway supervisor – is on leave, according to the Leon County Sheriff's Office and the school district.

A Leon County Schools spokesman said the altercation occurred in the cafeteria around noon on Wednesday. Videos posted on social media show screaming students crowding around two people who were wrestling on the school's tile floor.

Social media posts later showed dozens of students violently pulling the two apart to break up the fight.

The 17-year-old is accused of attempted robbery and assault on a school official, the sheriff's office said.

More news from Tallahassee:

It is unclear if the hall supervisor will face charges in connection with the altercation. The LCSO declined to answer questions about whether she will face charges, saying officers are actively investigating the case and “looking into possible others involved.”

It is also unclear whether the corridor supervisor is on paid or unpaid leave. LCS spokesman Chris Petley said she will remain on leave for the duration of the investigation.

As for the student, the district declined to provide any specific disciplinary action it might take.

“Law enforcement is investigating and students will face consequences as outlined in the Student Conduct Code,” Petley wrote in a message.
