DEA in Maine seizes over 3.5 pounds of drugs in Brownfield raid

A Brownfield man faces multiple charges after the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said authorities seized over 3.5 pounds of drugs from his home. Joey St. Hilaire, 52, was arrested Wednesday after search warrants were executed for his residence at 7 Fulcher Lane in Brownfield. The Maine State DEA said Maine State Police officers had been investigating Hilaire, a convicted felon, for illegal possession of weapons for several weeks. Officers found that Hilaire not only owned several firearms, but also distributed drugs in York and Oxford counties. Officers requested and received a search warrant for St. Hilaire's home to specifically search for firearms and ammunition, while also requesting assistance in their investigation into any illegal drug activity. The Maine DEA said agents and officers encountered St. Hilaire in the driveway of his home, where he was detained without incident until a search warrant was executed. Authorities said during the initial search for firearms and ammunition, investigators found a number of items in the home consistent with drug use and trafficking. The search was halted and an additional search warrant was requested and granted to expand the search of the residence to include illegal drugs and items related to drug trafficking. The Maine DEA said agents and officers during the search seized fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, all packaged for resale and valued at approximately $90,000. Authorities also seized scales, packaging materials and more than $25,000 in suspected drug proceeds. According to the Maine DEA, police and agents also seized two firearms from the home, a loaded 9mm pistol and a rifle, as well as more than 500 rounds of ammunition. After his arrest, St. Hilaire was taken to the Oxford County Jail. His bail was set at $75,000.

The Maine DEA said Maine State Police agents have been investigating Hilaire, a convicted felon, for several weeks for illegal possession of weapons. Agents found that Hilaire not only owned multiple firearms, but also distributed drugs in York and Oxford counties.

Officers requested and received a search warrant for St. Hilaire's home to specifically search for firearms and ammunition, and requested that Maine DEA agents assist them in their investigation into possible illegal drug activity.

The Maine State DEA said agents and police found St. Hilaire in the driveway of his residence and detained him without incident until a search warrant was executed.
