Isolated heavy storms in the late afternoon until sunset

An initial forecast warning remains in effect in the Twin Cities through tonight. A severe weather warning remains in effect until 10 p.m. for east-central and southeast Minnesota through western Wisconsin.

Isolated strong to severe storms are currently developing, initially along I-90 near Austin. Large hailstones over 2 inches in diameter are possible through this evening. Damaging winds and a few tornadoes are also possible.

After sunset, the storms quickly weaken, with only a few severe storms occurring east and southeast of the metropolis between 7:30 and 9 p.m. After 9 p.m., the storms are far out of sight in central Wisconsin.

After the storms have passed, the cloud cover will disappear. Behind the cold front, temperatures will be a little cooler, with lows of around 15 degrees tonight. Isolated fog is possible north of the metropolis.

Sunny weather is forecast for tomorrow with temperatures around 27 degrees and noticeably lower humidity.
