Dallas church fires Steve Lawson after revelation of inappropriate relationship

Pastor Steve Lawson of Trinity Bible Church in Dallas was fired from his position after it was revealed that he had an inappropriate relationship with an unnamed woman.

The church announced his dismissal on its website, explaining that the decision was made after Lawson informed elders of his actions. Effective immediately, he is relieved of all ministerial duties and will no longer receive compensation from the church.

In a statement, the elders expressed their commitment to support Lawson through prayer in hopes of his personal repentance. “We are ALL sinners, and Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners,” the church's statement said, emphasizing that Christ remains the leader of the church, which will continue to thrive even beyond each fallen individual.

The announcement sparked reactions from his followers, with many expressing sadness but praying for Lawson and those affected. One person wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Let's pray for Steve Lawson and the woman involved, for her repentance.” Another said: “So sad to hear of Steve Lawson's firing. He was one of my favorite pastors. This reminds us that even strong leaders struggle. Pray for your pastors daily!”

Trinity Bible Church in Dallas assured its congregation that it would continue to focus on teaching the Bible despite Lawson's dismissal.
