Ooltewah student killed in traffic accident on Snow Hill Road

UPDATE (September 19, 2024, 4:05 p.m.) – More details have been released regarding the fatal crash on Snow Hill Road.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) announced that at 10:40 a.m., a white Ford F-150 was traveling on Snow Hill Road when it partially left the road.

The HCSO's initial investigation revealed that the driver overcorrected while turning left and subsequently lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then overturned, causing the driver to be partially thrown out of the vehicle.

Officials pronounced the teenage driver dead at the scene of the accident.

The HCSO reported that no one else was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

This incident remains under investigation by the HCSO.


OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF) – An Ooltewah High School student was killed in an accident this morning.

Hamilton County Schools confirmed this tragic news to us this afternoon.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), this accident occurred on Snow Hill Road just behind Ooltewah High School.

The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department also confirmed that it was a single-vehicle accident and that one car had left the road.

The HCSO closed Snow Hill Road for hours while investigating the accident.

The identity of the student who died in the crash has not been disclosed.

The cause of the accident is not yet known; the sheriff's office's investigation is ongoing.
