Two-hour delay at Ross Local Schools after power outage

HAMILTON, Ohio – The Ross Local School District announced Thursday morning that all of its schools would experience a two-hour delay after an accident knocked out power at the district's main campus, according to a social media post from the district.

The social media post, posted at about 5:56 a.m., said a car accident had “damaged critical power lines,” leaving the main campus without power.

The morning kindergarten and preschool have been cancelled, the district announced.

According to the district, the transfer bus from Butler Tech High School runs on time.

The social media post asks people to “stay tuned for further updates.”

Just before 7 a.m., Duke Energy showed that about 300 homes south of Millvale were without power. Duke's website estimated that power would be restored to the area around 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

“The outage was caused by an object coming into contact with our power lines,” Duke’s outage map states.

As of 9 a.m., only 115 homes were affected by the power outage, mostly along US-27, but Duke pushed back the estimated restoration time for those homes to 2 p.m.
