Wet, cloudy days ahead; coastal flooding observed

IT'S GETTING COOLER TOWARDS THE WEEKEND. SO WHERE'S ALL THE RAIN? So, it's raining out here, mostly over the ocean, and there are lots of showers in the southeastern part of the state. We've got a small band this morning. That's why we got 1/100 in Boston, breaking our previous record. That's all we got. If you went northwest, you really just saw gray skies. When you got south of Plymouth, that's where it started to rain a little more steadily, and look at that. In Nantucket, the rain is already approaching an inch. THIS THING ONLY RUNS 50 MILES ANYWAY. THAT REALLY HAS A BIG IMPACT ON WHO GETS RAIN AND WHO GETS MORE RAIN BEFORE IT'S ALL OVER. SO IT'S OUT HERE SPINNING, BUT IT'S NOT GOING AWAY. IT'S GOING TO STAY HERE FOR A FEW DAYS, WHICH MEANS WE'VE GOT ANOTHER CHANCE OF SHOWERS TOMORROW. IT COULD BE SHOWERS ON SATURDAY AS WELL, BUT BECAUSE IT'S SO STUCK IN THIS SPOT, YOU KNOW WHO'S GETTING THE MOST OF THE RAIN? THE SOUTHEAST OF THE STATE. AND IF YOU GO NORTHWEST, YOU CAN STAY WITH DRY WEATHER. WE'VE ALREADY HAD THAT. SO IT'S JUST LAYING HERE, SPINNING AND SLOWLY SLIDING AWAY FROM HERE. WE'LL GET SOME CLEARING SKIES WHEN WE TALK ABOUT SATURDAY IN THE WEST AGAIN. AND TO EVERYONE IT LOOKS LIKE WE'RE GOING TO GET A LITTLE SUNSHINE COMING IN HERE ON SUNDAY. BUT AGAIN IT'S COOL WITH THAT NORTHEAST CURRENT FLYING IN HERE. BECAUSE OF THAT NORTHEAST CURRENT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE COASTAL FLOODING TOMORROW. BEWARE. AND THE REASON FOR THAT IS WE'RE GOING TO HAVE SOME BIG BREAKING WAVES. IT'S JUST LAYING OUT THERE. THE WIND IS BLOWING ACROSS THE WATER AND CAUSING THAT WAVE EFFECT. THERE MAY ACTUALLY BE SOME SMALL FLOODING INTO SATURDAY. THIS IS NOT A MAJOR FLOODING EVENT. BUT AGAIN, IF YOU'RE ALONG SOME OF THESE COASTAL ROADS THAT ARE PRONE TO OVERFLOWING WITH WATER, YOU'RE LIKELY TO BE EXPECTING SOME OF THAT FLOODING OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THE TIDE IS ASTRONOMICALLY HIGH AND THE WIND IS PUSHING THINGS UP A LITTLE. WE'RE EXPECTING JUST TIDE OR WAVE HEIGHTS OF 9 TO 11 FEET OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THE TIDE, I WOULD PROBABLY SAY, IS GOING TO CAUSE US THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS, IS SATURDAY AFTERNOON. IT'S 11.7, WHICH IS ASTRONOMICALLY PRETTY HIGH. AND THE OCEAN IS, AS I MENTIONED, A LITTLE TURBULENT. OK. SO IT'S GOING TO COLLAPSE OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. TOMORROW, A LOT. [MUSIC] LIKE TODAY. PRETTY COOL AND HUMID AND THE GREATEST CHANCE OF RAIN DOWN TOWARDS THE CAPE SATURDAY, SOMETHING SAME WILL HAPPEN ON SUNDAY. I THINK THE CHANCES OF EVERYONE SEEING A LITTLE SUNSHINE ARE BETTER AND THEN WE GO INTO A DRY PERIOD ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY NEXT WEEK. PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES, TEMPERATURES AROUND 18 KİN, PRETTY AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF TIME. WE'RE GOING TOWARDS THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK. There's a chance of showers coming again, a little better than now, but if you're in the right place at the right time you'll get some rain over the next few days too. For many of us, however, it is
