Local arrested for serious weapons and drug offenses

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) – On September 18, agents with the Southeast Ohio Major Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant and arrested one person.

Agents entered the home of Jeffery Jeffers and arrested him and one other individual. Agents found a total of 39 firearms, approximately one gram of methamphetamine, two digital scales, several baggies, and $1,252. Agents confirmed that two of the firearms were stolen, one from Washington County and the other from Noble County.

Jeffers was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail where he was charged with possession of drugs (a fifth-degree felony), possession of a firearm while unlawfully used (a third-degree felony), and two counts of receiving stolen property (both fourth-degree felonies).

Washington County Sheriff's Office Major Bryan Lockhart said this arrest helped make Marietta safer.

Jeffers is currently being held on $20,000 bail.
