Here is the press release from the Harris and Oprah event in Michigan:

The pool was let into the room at 7:40 p.m. It is a very large sound stage and a large brick facade around the stage. This is done “in a circle,” meaning the stage is in the center, with two wooden chairs with cream-colored upholstery. The screen on the opposite wall reads “Unite for America. There is a live studio audience here.

Trump repeated a statement he had made before that any Jew who voted for Harris or the Democrats “should have their head examined.”

Trump claims Kamala Harris “didn’t lift a finger” to protect the Jewish population.

In August, the Biden-Harris administration approved a $20 billion arms package for Israel. Harris said she was working “around the clock” to reach a ceasefire agreement. Harris has repeatedly said she supports Israel's right to self-defense and condemned anti-Semitism.

Trump: “Despite helping to create this explosion of anti-Semitism, Kamala Harris did nothing. She did not lift a finger to protect you.”

Trump, meanwhile, falsely stated that polls showing him ahead of Harris would not be released.

Tim Walz, Kamala Harris's running mate, met with the families of people held hostage by Hamas.

Walz “condemned the brutality against Americans and Israelis and reiterated his and Vice President Harris' commitment to Israel's security.” In addition, “The group discussed the Biden-Harris administration's efforts to end the war and ensure Israel's security, release all hostages, and end the suffering in Gaza,” the campaign said in a statement.

Today I met with the families of Americans held hostage by Hamas to hear their heartbreaking stories – something no family should have to endure.

The mayor of Springfield, Ohio, has issued an emergency decree following increasing threats to public safety due to false right-wing extremist rumors about the city's migrant communities.

On Thursday, Rob Rue issued a statement saying, “The safety of Springfield residents is our top priority.” He added, “We are treating these threats with the seriousness they deserve and are taking immediate action to ensure the safety of our community and our employees. Our commitment to loss prevention is unwavering.”

According to a city statement, the proclamation will allow Rue and other city officials to “quickly obtain the resources needed to address potential threats” and “enable departments to respond more effectively to emerging risks, including civil unrest, cyber threats and potential acts of violence.”

Harris is stepping up her efforts to win over voters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As the Associated Press reports, she is recruiting prominent members of this faith community in the important state of Arizona to make it clear that Donald Trump does not agree with the church's values.

Her national campaign team announced Thursday the creation of an advisory committee to formalize the outreach to current and former members of the church, commonly known as the Mormon Church.

Arizona has nearly 450,000 church members, about 6 percent of the state's population. In what is likely to be an extremely close race, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and former church members could play a decisive role.

US officials now believe that no ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas is expected before the end of President Joe Biden's term in January, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The newspaper cited senior officials at the White House, State Department and Pentagon, but did not identify them by name. Those agencies did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said two weeks ago that there was 90 percent agreement on a ceasefire, while Vice President Kamala Harris repeatedly said Washington was working “around the clock” to reach an agreement.

The United States and mediators Qatar and Egypt have been trying for months to reach a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, but have failed to reach a final agreement.

Negotiations are underway to resolve two obstacles: Israel's demand to keep its troops in the Philadelphia Corridor to maintain a buffer zone between Gaza and Egypt, and the details of an exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

Biden presented a three-stage ceasefire proposal on May 31, which Israel agreed to at the time. But the deal has encountered obstacles, and administration officials have said for weeks that a new proposal will be presented soon.

Critics and human rights groups also urged Washington to use its influence and attach conditions to military support for Israel, but the US maintained its support for its ally.
