Suspect arrested for murder in 2019 North Idaho missing person case

SANDPOINT, Idaho – A suspect has been arrested in connection with the 2019 disappearance of Rae Allison Berwanger, who was reported missing to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office on March 7, 2019.

According to a press release from Bonner County deputies, Jordan Jarrad Law, 46, a former Bonner County resident, was indicted by a Bonner County grand jury on multiple counts, including first-degree murder.

The investigation, which spanned several years, identified Law as a person of interest in Berwanger's case. On September 17, 2024, he was indicted on five counts, including second-degree murder, submitting a false or forged document to record, destruction of evidence, and two counts of rape, one of which was another victim related to the investigation.

Officials said Law was located and taken into custody in Spokane on Sept. 18 with the help of Bend police, the Spokane County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals Service.
