WA duo charged with murder in fake sex scheme involving stripper

Two people are accused of luring an out-of-towner to his death in Tacoma with the promise of sex with a stripper.

Investigators said that, like in a macabre Cinderella fairytale, the suspected killers left behind a shoe that helped solve the crime.

The murder occurred last month, but investigators only solved the case this week by arresting two suspects, 26-year-old Ashley Arrieta and 24-year-old Jamari Webb.

Both suspects appeared in court on Thursday.

Probable cause documents state that Arrieta admitted to investigators that she met the victim at a Tacoma hotel to have paid sex. The victim and Arrieta reportedly met about an hour earlier at the Dream Girls strip club (at Foxes) in Parkland.

According to the documents, the victim and his friends were visiting from Oregon. The victim sent his friends a Snapchat message saying he was waiting for the girl he had met to arrive.

According to the documents, Arrieta showed up at the hotel with Jamari Webb.

Webb is already a convicted felon who has previously been accused of robbery.

According to probable cause documents, both Webb and Arrieta are seen on surveillance video from the hotel.

The document states that Arrieta told police that she signaled Webb with a heart emoji as soon as the victim's $1,500 payment for sex was credited to her account.

According to the documents, when Webb received this signal, he knocked on the door and the victim let him into the hotel room.

It is not known what happened in the hotel room, but the victim never left.

An employee found the victim in a pool of blood on the floor with a gunshot wound to the chest, the document says.

Investigators said they found a holstered pistol next to his body and an ammunition magazine on his neck.

Friends told police the victim owned weapons, but they were unsure what type of weapon he was carrying that night.

Video cameras recorded Arrieta and Webb leaving the hotel.

Investigators believe the suspects attempted to cover their tracks by stealing the victim's phone and throwing it out the window of their car as they drove away.

But according to documents proving the crime, the suspected killers were sloppy and left behind plenty of evidence, including a receipt from a Federal Way grocery store and a slipper shoe. Police say they found the other shoe during a search under Webb's bed.

Arrieta told police they did not take the victim's phone.

In court, the judge set bail at one million dollars for each of the suspects.

The victim's family traveled from Portland to attend the trial, but did not want to speak on camera.

Arrieta and Webb are expected back in court next month.

They are accused of first-degree murder, and Webb is also accused of illegal possession of a firearm.
