Defense rests in trial against felon accused of murdering a customer of an Indian store

The defense rested on Thursday in the trial of a parolee accused of stabbing a supermarket customer during an altercation in Indio.

Vicente Angel Munoz, 32, of La Quinta, is charged with murder, an aggravated charge of use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a serious felony, and probation violations in connection with the 2020 killing of Maurice Brock, 29, of Indio.

The defense called several witnesses to the Riverside Hall of Justice on Thursday, after which attorneys informed Riverside County Superior Court Judge Charles Koosed that they had completed their evidence. Prosecutors began counter-testimony, which was scheduled to conclude on Monday. Closing arguments were scheduled for Tuesday.
