Daviess County Sheriff's Office

A Louisville man faces drug trafficking charges after a search warrant turned up meth, pills and other evidence Wednesday, the Daviess County Sheriff's Office said.

According to a press release, detectives from DCSO's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) were in the 2200 block of Carter Road around 2 p.m. Wednesday when they noticed Derrick Damell Davis, who they knew had three arrest warrants for violating probation.

“Investigators approached Davis, who was walking his dog at the time, identified themselves as DCSO and began to flee on foot. Davis entered a nearby apartment where he was quickly arrested by SIU investigators. Methamphetamine, digital scales and plastic bags used to package narcotics were clearly visible inside the apartment,” the release states. “Investigators obtained a search warrant for the apartment and after a thorough search, located a large bag of methamphetamine that had been thrown into the bathtub near where Davis was arrested. Hydrocodone pills and U.S. currency were also located and seized.”

Davis, 38, of the 500 block of East Liberty Street in Louisville, was booked into the Daviess County Detention Center. According to DCSO, the charges include:

  • Trafficking in Controlled Substances – 1st Degree, 2nd Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Drug paraphernalia – possession/purchase
  • Fleeing from the police – 3rd degree
  • Possession of controlled substances = 1st degree, 1st offense (drug unspecified)
  • Manipulation of physical evidence
  • Arrest warrant for violation of probation for meth trafficking (3 counts)
