Driver accused of shooting another driver's window on Massachusetts highway

A driver appeared in Worcester District Court Thursday to answer to an alleged incident of driving aggression. The incident occurred Thursday morning on Route 146 South in Millbury. WCVB was there when Massachusetts State Police photographed the victim's minivan for evidence. The front passenger window appeared to have been shot out. The victim was not physically injured in the incident, but was shaken. He told WCVB that the incident was not preceded by driving aggression or extreme driving. A state police dispatcher sent patrol cars to the area after the victim called police. “I'm currently connected to a caller on 911. There was an incident of driving aggression on 146. The driver pulled out a gun and shot at his vehicle. Did not assault him, but did smash his window,” the dispatcher relayed to patrol officers. Police found a vehicle in Millbury that matched the description of the suspect's red Honda Civic, and the driver was arrested. A sniffer dog found a pellet gun near Ochoa's car, police said. Daniel Ochoa, 39, of Worcester was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. He was held on $1,000 bail. Ochoa has no prior criminal record, works as a roofer and does not know the victim. He will appear in court again on Oct. 15.

A motorist appeared before Worcester District Court on Thursday to answer charges in connection with an alleged incident of aggression behind the wheel.

The incident occurred Thursday morning on Route 146 South in Millbury.

WCVB was there when Massachusetts State Police photographed the victim's minivan for evidence. The front passenger window appeared to have been shot out.

The victim did not suffer any physical injuries in the incident, but was shaken. He told WCVB that there was no history of road rage or extreme driving prior to the incident.

A state police dispatcher sent patrol cars to the area after the victim called police.

“I'm currently with a caller at the emergency center. There was an incident of aggression behind the wheel on the 146. The driver pulled out a gun and shot at his vehicle. He didn't attack him, but he smashed his window,” the dispatcher told the police.

Police found a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's red Honda Civic in Millbury, and the driver was arrested. A sniffer dog recovered an air rifle near Ochoa's car, police said.

Daniel Ochoa, 39, of Worcester, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and was held on $1,000 bail.

Ochoa has no criminal past, works as a roofer and does not know the victim.

He will return to court on October 15.
