The Arizona State Fair starts this week; here's everything you need to know

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – The Arizona State Fair is back and there are tons of attractions, new food and shows that families and fairgoers will love!

The fair begins on September 20th and runs every Thursday through Sunday through October 27th. Tickets start at $15 for ages 8 and up. Children under 7 are free.

The opening times of the fair are listed below:

  • Mon, Tue and Wed: CLOSED
  • Thursday: 12 – 21 o’clock
  • Friday: 12 – 22 o’clock
  • Saturday: 12 – 22 o’clock
  • Sunday: 12 – 21 o’clock

The fair wouldn't be complete without the Coliseum Concert Series! This year's lineup includes The All-American Rejects, Vanilla Ice and Big Time Rush. The All-American Rejects perform on Saturday at 7 p.m., while Vanilla Ice and Big Time Rush take the main stage on Friday at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.

Guests can also see the Omnium Circus, an exciting show featuring award-winning artists, unforgettable music and a heartwarming story. The full list of performances can be found here.

Exciting attractions

There are dozens of rides for thrill seekers or those who prefer a more leisurely pace. Hop on the Heidi Coaster, Joker 360, Raptor Coaster or Sling Shot to get your adrenaline pumping. Kids can enjoy teacups, tugboats, monster trucks, carousels and more.

Thursdays are unlimited rides! Wristbands can only be purchased on-site from 12:00pm to 6:00pm for $50. Wristbands are valid until 8:00pm. Guests should be aware that wristbands purchased outside of the fairgrounds are not valid.

If you want to skip the line, you can speed up your fun with a Fast Pass. Numbers are limited and passes cost $30. For a full list of all the rides at the fairgrounds this year, click here.

Satisfy your appetite for fair food

So, what kind of food can you sink your teeth into this year? Guests will be treated to dozens of tasty treats and foods throughout the fairgrounds. Craving funnel cakes or giant hand-dipped corn dogs? Or if you're craving something spicy, stop by Alicia's Mexican Kitchen for tacos and tortas and wash them down with a refreshing agua fresca.

You can't leave the fair without a giant turkey leg! Head to Biggy's and get turkey legs, sausages, and Hot Cheeto fries.
