Man in Texas arrested for murdering his wife in 2023

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man has been arrested for the 2023 murder of his wife, according to Metro Nashville Police.

Donovan Holt, 33, was indicted by a grand jury on charges of involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence and making false statements, the MNPD said.

Holt was arrested last week in San Antonio, Texas, for the July 2023 murder of 29-year-old April Holt.

April was found unconscious with a plastic bag around her neck at the couple's Cane Ridge home in Nashville. She later succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital.

In November 2023, her death was ruled a suicide by the coroner. The cause of death was given as complications from asphyxiation.

“Holt confessed to detectives from the MNPD Cold Case Unit in Texas last July that he was responsible for strangling his wife,” the MNPD said.

Holt is expected to be extradited to Nashville soon.
