Teenager charged with murder in Glen Dale Drive shooting

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) — A 16-year-old boy has been charged with shooting another teenager on Glen Dale Drive in Greenville Thursday morning.

The juvenile suspect is in the Pitt County Juvenile Detention Center and faces an open murder charge.

Police responded to the shooting at 11:55 a.m. When they arrived, they found 17-year-old Keshawn Montrale Barrett suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Barrett was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Officers pursued the suspect to a dead end street on Deck Street, where he was taken into custody. The suspect is not from the Greenville area. Police officials believe the two teens got into an argument that led to the shooting.

The suspect's name is not being released due to his age.
