New York Magazine placed reporter Olivia Nuzzi on leave Thursday night after an internal investigation found that she had “a personal relationship” with a key figure in the 2024 presidential campaign, reportedly former candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“Nuzzi admitted to the magazine's editors that during her coverage of the 2024 election campaign, she entered into a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 election campaign. This was a violation of the magazine's standards regarding conflicts of interest and disclosures,” New York Magazine said in a statement.

Nuzzi, the magazine's Washington correspondent, has given several high-profile interviews as part of her coverage of the presidential election, including with Kennedy, about whom she wrote a piece late last year.

Nuzzi issued a statement Thursday evening saying she never had a physical relationship with her former reporter but had “personal” communications with them. She did not mention Kennedy's name.

Bloomberg has canceled the PR broadcast of Olivia Nuzzi's show after backlash from the left following her scathing Biden story.

“Earlier this year, communications between me and a former reporting officer became personal,” she said. “I did not report directly on the individual nor use him or her as a source. The relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to avoid the appearance of a conflict. I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I disappointed, especially my colleagues in New York.”

A spokesman for Kennedy also denied any kind of physical relationship and said he had only met Nuzzi once.

“Mr. Kennedy met Olivia Nuzzi only once in his life for an interview she requested that resulted in a defamatory article,” a spokesperson for Kennedy told Fox News Digital.

The magazine's statement said Nuzzi would have been relieved of her duties as a campaign reporter if the magazine had learned of the relationship.

“Had the magazine known of this relationship, she would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign. An internal review of her published work has found no inaccuracies or evidence of bias,” the New York magazine said.

“She is currently on leave from the journal and the journal is conducting a more thorough third-party review,” the statement continued. “We regret this breach of trust from our readers.”

Status, a recently launched media blog, reported that the person she allegedly had a relationship with was Kennedy, who is married to actress Cheryl Hines. Kennedy suspended his campaign last month and endorsed Donald Trump.

“She did not proactively disclose her alleged relationship with Kennedy to New York Magazine, and the outlet only recently learned of it, according to people familiar with the matter. The alleged relationship only began after a profile she wrote about Kennedy in November 2023 was published, a person close to Nuzzi said. The person close to Nuzzi added that she did not use Kennedy as a source in her coverage of the 2024 campaign,” Status reported.

New York Magazine reporter defends timing of Biden bombshell ‘conspiracy of silence’ amid backlash

Nuzzi did not respond to a request for further comment.

New York Magazine declined further comment on the Kennedy report.

Nuzzi recently made headlines when Bloomberg reportedly pulled a major promotion for her six-part interview series titled “Working Capital” after a left-wing backlash against a scathing report she wrote about President Biden.

The story about Biden before he dropped out of the 2024 race focused on his mental deterioration and the “conspiracy of silence” around him to prevent this from becoming public knowledge. Biden dropped out shortly after Nuzzi's report was released, and pressure from the Democratic Party on the president increased.
