Carencro man arrested for involvement in his father's murder in Lawtell 4 years ago | Crime

CARENCRO, Louisiana (KADN) – A man suspected of involvement in the murder of his father four years ago is now behind bars.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office announced that 33-year-old Leeland Valliere of Carencro was arrested on Wednesday, September 18, on a warrant for first-degree murder and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.

In August, Valliere and five others were charged with the murder of Joseph Vallian. At the time of his death, Vallian was 66 years old and the brother of local Dr. John Vallian, both of Lawtell.

Opelousas man charged with murder of Lawtell man killed in 2020

OPELOUSAS, Louisiana (KADN) – St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said a DNA match, tips from Crime Stoppers and good old-fashioned investigation led to the arrest of an Opelousas man in 2020 for the murder of a Lawtell man.

Vallian was found tied up and brutally beaten in his home on the night of September 15, 2020. The case was apparently a robbery-murder. The case remained unsolved for several years. The charges were filed one day after the victim's 70th birthday.

According to SLPSO, Desmond Richard, 33, of Opelousas remains at large and is wanted for first-degree murder.
