Sun Prairie man arrested after robbery and theft at local stores

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WMTV) – Sun Prairie police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with a robbery and theft at two local stores, the police department said Thursday.

The first incident occurred last Friday afternoon in the 900 block of West Main Street. Police said the suspect distracted an employee and allegedly stole a tip jar from the counter before running away.

Then on Sunday evening, SPPD responded to the 1600 block of West Main Street after the suspect allegedly demanded money from two young employees and indicated he had a gun, police said. The man then ran off with the money. Police added that no weapon was seen and no injuries were reported.

Authorities arrested a Sun Prairie man in connection with both incidents and charged him with theft in the first incident and armed robbery in the second. The man was also charged with bail jumping in both cases.
