Warm and windy on Wednesday, dry skies expected at the end of the week

Today’s forecast:
After yesterday's heavy wind gusts, the weather will be much milder today across southern Colorado. A dry southwesterly flow will develop as yesterday's storm moves away from the state and another storm burrows into the west coast. This will give way to a moderately windy and warm afternoon, with peak wind gusts up to 25 mph in the lower elevations and 30 mph in the mountains and mountain valleys.

Weather forecast for Colorado Springs: High: 81; Low: 48. Dry and windy this afternoon, with the southwesterly flow bringing our highs to below 27 degrees this afternoon.

Pueblo Forecast: High: 86; Low: 49. Wednesday afternoon will be rain free and sunny after some pretty heavy storms yesterday. Our high today will be about 3-5 degrees above average.

Weather forecast for Canon City: High: 83; Low: 49. Cool temperatures this morning will give way to a warm and windy afternoon, with peak gusts today of up to 25 mph.

Weather forecast for Woodland Park: High: 72; Low: 38. Wednesday was a beautiful fall day for Teller County. Cool morning temperatures give way to a mild and breezy afternoon.

Tri-Lakes Forecast: High: 70s; Low: 40s. Sunny, windy and warm this afternoon, followed by a clear and cool night, with lows dropping to well over 40 degrees overnight.

Weather forecast for the plains: High: 80s/90s; Low: 50s. Yesterday's storms will not be repeated on Wednesday as our weather turns bright, breezy and warm on the High Plains this afternoon.

Weather forecast for Walsenburg and Trinidad: High: 70s/80s; Low: 40s/50s. West and southwest winds will be gusting to 25 mph today, so our forecast for Wednesday remains dry and warm.

Mountain forecast: High: 60s; Low: 30s/40s. It will dry out on Wednesday, and the cold, autumnal temperatures this morning will give way to a mild and windy afternoon.

Extended outlook:
Our weather will be little changed on Thursday. Another cool morning will give way to a warm and windy afternoon. Highs on Friday will be between 27 and 32 degrees across the Plains, but our weather pattern will noticeably change to fall over the weekend as our next storm moves into the Four Corners region.

Saturday will be much cooler and more unsettled, with rain moving in by the afternoon and our high in Colorado Springs reaching just above 25 degrees. A few showers could linger into Sunday morning, followed by decreasing clouds and an afternoon high of just above 18 degrees. The approaching storm will bring snow to the mountains this weekend, and here at First Alert 5 we're keeping a close eye on Teller County, as the timing of the moisture and cold air could mean a mix of rain and snow or a transition to snow by Saturday night. Those details are still being worked out that far in advance, so stay tuned for updates.
