Man shoots through car window during road rage incident in Taylorsville, police say

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — A Utah man was arrested Wednesday after firing shots through a car window because he thought the driver was going too slowly, Taylorsville police said.

38-year-old Capone Hovietz Dickson is accused of aggravated assault with serious consequences – road rage (second degree felony).

On September 12, around 8 a.m., police responded to a road rage incident in which a man fired a bullet through the windshield of another driver after he stopped in the 5700 block of South Canal Road. Dickson was reportedly angry because the other driver was driving too slowly, and the two began arguing at this point.

The victim said he was standing outside and was getting back into his car when Dickson pointed a gun at him and fired a shot through his window. Dickson then reportedly fled in his white Nissan van.

The victim tracked Dickson to a Walmart at 5400 South Redwood Road, where security cameras captured the van's license plate, police said. Police found several phone numbers belonging to Dickson and left messages asking Dickson to answer the calls, but he did not, police said.

On September 18, Dickson was caught by police leaving his home in his van. The officer stopped Dickson, who demanded to know why he was stopped, claiming he was only defending himself against the incident.

During the investigation, according to police, Dickson's property manager claimed that Dickson was violent and threatening and was no longer allowed to speak to them in person because of the threats Dickson had made.

Dickson was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on the aforementioned charges.

Further information is not currently available.

The charges are merely allegations. All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
