{KXLG – Florence, SD} Florence School District Superintendent Mitch Reed issued a statement on social media last night regarding reports from the Henry School District of students being bullied or harassed on a school bus without their students being involved.

Reed's statement: “I would like to address an incident involving bullying and hazing that we recently became aware of within the middle and high school football programs. We want to assure you that this incident does not involve any of our students or staff here at Florence; this matter is unique to the Henry School. This incident did not occur on a bus in Florence and was not under the supervision of a Florence employee. The incident is under investigation and the football coach has been terminated from the coaching staff.”

His email address was published, along with a statement that they take these matters seriously and are “committed to creating a safe and respectful environment.”

Rachel Livingston introduced herself as one of the parents and commented that the Florence School “has been wonderful and has gone out of their way to ensure our boys are safe.” She continued, “Unfortunately, the incident only involves the Henry boys and we plan to pursue prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.”
