Israeli soldiers cleared bodies from a roof in the occupied West Bank.

Geolocated videos shown by NBC News show Israeli soldiers throwing what appear to be lifeless bodies from a rooftop during a raid in the occupied West Bank. The Israeli military said Friday that the incident was being investigated and was not consistent with its values.

The videos first appeared on social media on Thursday and show Israeli soldiers on a rooftop near the town of Qabatiya, west of Jenin in the northern West Bank.

In one of the videos, a man in uniform is seen pushing a corpse and kicking it repeatedly until it falls from the roof and disappears from view. Then all three walk away.

Another video shows the incident from a different perspective, with three men throwing three bodies from the roof one after the other.

NBC News could not confirm when the videos were taken. It is not clear who the dead people in the videos are or how they died.

In a separate statement, the Israeli army said its troops killed four “armed terrorists” in an “exchange of fire” in Qabatiya on Thursday.

In a statement on Thursday, Hamas accused Israel of throwing “corpses of martyrs from the roofs of houses” in Qabatiya. Palestinian officials on Friday called the incident “a new war crime.”

Jenin Governor Kamal Abu al-Rub told Reuters that six Palestinians were killed and 18 others were wounded by Israeli forces in a military raid in Qabatiya on Thursday. Al-Rub told the news agency that Israeli forces withdrew from Qabatiya after destroying infrastructure in the area.

The Geneva Conventions require that the bodies of those killed in conflicts, including combatants, be treated with respect.

In the months since the Hamas-led October 7 As a result of the terrorist attack and the subsequent Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip, violence in the West Bank has escalated and raids by the Israeli armed forces are taking place almost daily.

Last month, Israel launched a major military operation in the region, the largest in over 20 years.

Palestinian health officials said earlier this month that nearly 700 Palestinians had died since the October 7 attack in the West Bank. Israeli authorities said 1,200 people were killed in the attack and about 250 were taken hostage.

According to local authorities, more than 41,000 people have been killed during Israel's months-long offensive in the Gaza Strip.
