FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – State authorities said the man accused of shooting a Chesterfield County police officer has been located.

The South Carolina Department of Law Enforcement said Alston Modlin was found around 10 a.m. Friday.

Modlin was wanted in connection with a shooting that sent a McBee police officer to the hospital Thursday night. The officer was shot during a traffic stop.

Our sister station in Charlotte, WBTV, reports that the shooting occurred around 11 p.m. Thursday along 11th Street near McBee High School.

Florence County Sheriff TJ Joye told WMBF News about 20 units from his office were assisting in the search for Modlin in a wooded area in Lee County.

Joye added that the FCSO's flock camera system captured Modlin's truck in a circle.
