Lancaster County CTC to be shut down after uncovering more social media threats

All Lancaster County Career and Technology Center locations will be closed Friday, News 8 has learned, after more threats surfaced on social media. Law enforcement is investigating. Curfew: This closure came a day after the Willow Street campus was locked down after police received a call about a possible shooting. West Lampeter Township police officers entered the school with guns drawn and searched it while students remained in their classrooms. Police were unable to find anything. No one was injured. Students were dismissed early. Source of call The call Thursday morning came from a relative of a student, according to police. The person had learned of a vague threat that had been circulating on social media for the past few weeks. Police said they did not believe the caller had any ill intent, just a general concern for the students' well-being. Students were told to leave school with their hands up. WGAL interviewed Erin Zimmerman, a mother who said her son contacted her during the curfew. “He recently texted me saying there was a serious threat and the school was on lockdown,” Zimmerman said. “He hasn't heard anything. He was a little scared and said the police were on the way and were getting the students to come out with their hands up. That's all we know at this point.” Another mother said her daughter called her around 9:30 a.m. “She called me in the classroom. “I couldn't understand what was going on, but I heard the announcement over the system that the kids are currently locked down,” she said. “It's a helpless feeling right now. We don't know what's going on — other than a paramedic calling to tell me the kids are safe.”
