Convicted felon charged with burglary of Rochester home

ROCHESTER, MN (KROC-AM News) – A convicted felon with a criminal past dating back to 2010 has been accused of breaking into a Rochester home.

The criminal complaint, filed Thursday in Olmsted District Court, states that Rochester police responded to the break-in Tuesday evening. The home in question is located in southwest Rochester.

A neighbor told police she saw someone enter the empty house next door. Police were then shown video footage from another neighbor that showed the suspect entering the house.

He was identified by officials as 37-year-old George Dee McIntosh Jr. according to the complaint. Court records list him as homeless in Rochester.

Officers entered the home and found no one inside. However, they did find a backpack with papers that had McIntosh Jr.'s name on it, as well as trash and other items that were not previously in the home, court records state.

Court documents also state that several rings and a house key were missing from the apartment. Officers found McIntosh Jr. later Tuesday evening at an unknown location in southwest Rochester and arrested him.

McIntosh Jr. has been charged with second-degree burglary and is being held on $50,000 bail.

According to court records, he was convicted of aggravated menacing in Olmsted County last year and in Faribault County in 2021.

His criminal record also includes a conviction for tampering with electronic surveillance devices. McIntosh is due back in court next month.
