Pushing in Brooklyn subway: Suspect allegedly pushed 62-year-old woman onto tracks while in custody

BUSHWICK, Brooklyn (WABC) – A man accused of hitting a woman and causing her to fall onto the subway tracks in Brooklyn was taken into police custody on Friday.

The 62-year-old victim is recovering after being pushed onto the tracks of the L Line platform at Jefferson Street Station on Thursday.

According to the police report, a stranger asked her to borrow a lighter. When she refused, he punched the woman in the face and pushed her onto the tracks before running away.

A passerby helped the woman to safety.

She was hospitalized with an ankle and elbow injury.

No charges have yet been filed against the suspect.
