Investigations into drive-by shooting lead to several arrests and drug raid

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – Amarillo police say an investigation into a drive-by shooting has resulted in multiple arrests and a drug bust.

Amarillo police officers from the Proactive Criminal Enforcement Unit (PACE), the Neighborhood Police Officer Unit (NPO), and other divisions of the APD led the investigation of three recent drive-by shootings.

Officials said intelligence from school security identified a meeting point near N. Lincoln and a vehicle belonging to members of a local gang.

PACE officers spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Western Plaza Dr. During the stop, officers discovered shell casings from multiple firearms inside the vehicle.

APD and DPS continued surveillance at the meeting point.

Officers made contact with several male juveniles at this location, including a 17-year-old who was stopped on foot with a backpack containing several firearms, methamphetamine and THC cartridges.

Officials said detectives obtained a search warrant for the meeting place.

During the search of the house, officers seized an AR-15, a .380 pistol, 15 pounds of methamphetamine, THC wax and drug paraphernalia.

Officials said a stolen silver Dodge Charger and additional shell casings were also found in the driveway.

Officers found criminal evidence leading to a nearby home, and a second search warrant was issued for the second home.

According to authorities, officers seized marijuana and drug scales at this location.

Three male juveniles, ages 15, 16 and 16, were booked into the High Plains Youth Center on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to officials, 17-year-old Luis Ramirez was booked into the Potter County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The investigation is ongoing.
