Lewisville ISD: 4 students arrested for threatening a school

The students were taken to a remand prison following complaints of terrorist threats, police said.

LEWISVILLE, Texas – Four Lewisville ISD students were arrested after allegedly making online threats against Huffines Middle School in Lewisville ISD, police said.

The students were taken to the Denton juvenile detention center because of complaints of terrorist threats, police said. Because the students are minors, their names are not being released.

LPD said it was alerted to the potential threat by its partners at LISD. “Our School Resource Officers immediately took action and began investigating,” Lewisville police said in a statement. “We realized the posters were duplicates or reused posters from other threatening posters seen throughout the Metroplex and the state this week and last week. Despite this, we took this threat seriously and were able to locate the suspects involved.”

Lewisville ISD said in a statement that the students also face disciplinary action from the school district.

“We are grateful to LPD for their quick action on this false report. The students involved will face significant legal consequences for their actions and will also be disciplined under our Student Conduct Policy,” Lewisville ISD said in a statement. “Lewisville ISD and its law enforcement partners take seriously any comments that threaten the safety of our students and staff.”

Lewisville police also urged students to report any illegal activity immediately.

“We encourage parents to be honest with their children about the consequences of threats. It is NEVER a joke and we will never treat it as one,” police said. “We also thank our students who reported this unlawful activity and encourage all students to report any illegal activity to LPD or LISD immediately.”
